College Humor: Reverse sexism on Xbox Live

Gaming girls have it pretty tough. A simple game of Call of Duty on Xbox Live can turn into an avalanche of sexist jokes and innuendo thrown their way.

The guys (and girls) over at College Humor decided to turn the tables on the typical male chauvinist. Take a look in the video above to see the girls finally pwn the guys.

Google announces Chrome OS (crowd rejoices)

The Google Chrome browser has been wildly popular since its release less than a year ago, yet that was only the beginning of "Operation: Take Down Microsoft."

Google has announced that they'll be releasing a new and free open source OS, the Chrome Operating System. Chrome OS will be targeted at netbooks, a wide open market that really consists of the 9 year old Windows XP and Linux OS. Naturally, however, Google plans to bring this new OS to portable and desktop PC's.

Designed to be fast, lightweight and simple, Google Chrome will undoubtedly give Microsoft a few possible heart attacks in a market that was once theirs and theirs alone.

Facebook Custom URL/ Username, now LIVE

At 12 midnight, Facebook officially opened the flood gates to allow users to create a custom URL with a username. For instance, users will be able to direct their friends and family right to their page using their names. Simply choose a user name like JoeSmith.

Then your custom URL would look like this,...

www.facebook.com/joesmith

So make sure you get on that, especially if you have a common name. Facebook has already stated that common words won't be allowed, and you don't want to get stuck with one of those crappy circa 1994 screen names with numbers and letters.

Update: I got mine! Facebook.com/JasonLeavey
Did you get yours?

Video Games Pwn Hollywood

Recent NPD reports show that more people are playing video games than going to the movies.  The NPD data shows that 63% of Americans have played a video game in the last six months, whereas only 53% have left the house to watch a movie.

What does this mean for the two industries?

Well, it means that both are making tons o' cash.  In a recession period with high unemployment rates, the fact that 53% of the population is going to see movies and 63% are playing video games means that a lot of money is being spent on entertainment.

But what the heck gamers, have a field day!  Tell all your "scriptwriter" and "film maker" friends to get real jobs and stimulate this economy.

Gamer Swag (Not a Limited Edition Pokemon Card)

Ballin. The game industry is full of it. Sony wins a format war with what? It's ballin blu-ray support. Nintendo makes gaming more mainstream than ever; ballin. The ballers at Microsoft's X-box 360 offer hardcore gaming delight.

It's straight ballin across the board. And the fashion industry is taking notice. No, not just Hot Topic. Game swagger hits a new benchmark with these kicks from Nike:
These NES inspired Nike Air Max are set to hit the streets soon. The colors resonate strong from Nintendo's first console outing and the start (hopefully select) accents add even more floss to the overall pallet. No word on price yet, but it'll likely cost you some serious cake.

A little further off the radar, kicks producer Globe has thrown together a nice looking Gears of War set of shoes.

They'll set you back $80, but just tell your significant other that you bought some shoes and not: "These really awesome shoes based on X-box 360's blockbuster first person shooter Gears of War! (Catching Breath) Star Trek!"

Coming Soon!

First off, thanks to everyone who has visited and critiqued the site. I'm working slowly but surely to make it flow. As of right now, the only reviews I have up are for games on the PS3 and PSP systems, but that is about to change. In the coming weeks, you will see reviews and news for Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PC, Cell Phones, and Web Based games. It's been a long time coming, but please continue to check in regularly. Also, if you or someone you know would like to submit reviews or news articles, please e-mail me at theadamballard@gmail.com.

There's a lot of games to review and news to cover, but here's to things to come!
