Apparently Shigeru Miyamoto referenced a golf mini game in Wii Sports Resort, even though it never existed. Subsequently, Nintendo had to make it since whatever the golden mesiah says, goes.
Kotaku reports that Nintendo team member Takayuki Shimamura recounts the story. "Right after getting back to Japan, he suddenly said: "You know we're including golf now." Apparently he'd stated in an interview that this time round golf shots would be determined by the backswing, even though at that time a golf game didn't exist in any shape or form!"
Pretty funny! Well regardless, as long as golf doesn't take the place of another mini game, I have no problem with it's refined inclusion. I won't be playing it though (I'll be too busy with Air Sports!)
