Will Mario Kart return to Wii?

There's no denying that Mario Kart Wii has sold extremely well. In fact, in June of 2009, the title landed on the number 8 spot with 202,000 copies sold, and the game is more than a year old!

So with all that said, what are the chances we'll see another Mario Kart on Wii? The franchise has never had a sequel on the same console, and Nintendo has no reason to rush on a new version. But it is clear that gamers both casual and advanced love a motion controlled Mario Kart.

That brings us to Nintendo's much hyped but few and far between line of "New Play Control!" titles. They haven't really announced that many, and Mario Kart: Double Dash might make a great title for the upgrade. Although the game is easily the least favorite in the series, maybe a Wii Wheel upgrade would bring some flavor to the game, and be an easy solution for more Kart.

Otherwise, based on Nintendo's usual long gap between the beloved franchise, we might not see another MK until the Wii HD, whenever that happens.
