Mario Kart Wii Teaches Safe Driving

No, driving down the interstate hurling turtle shells at other drivers is not exactly a safe way to spend the afternoon.  But that hasn't stopped Colorado's Vail Christian High School from teaching a lesson in road safety with Mario Kart Wii.

Vail Christian hosted the "distracted and drowsy driving project."  The purpose of the event is to show how things like simple navigation are greatly impaired when sending text messages behind the wheel.

A Wii Wheel in one hand and a cell phone in the other, student Alli O'Brian finished his session saying, "I ran into a lot of things and it was very stressful."

"With the way Alli is driving, rarely on the road and often crashing into computerized cows, the program seems to be driving home the point," Colorado 9 News said in their report.

Ten points for the driving pun Colorado 9 News.  Your journalistic creativity lives to see another day.
