Castlevania Movie Shelved

The Castlevania series has been flirting with film ideas for a good while now.  The latest script by Paul W.S. Anderson seemed to have a little more tangibility, as Anderson was responsible for video game/nerd franchise films like Resident Evil and Alien vs. Predator.

Anderson's script, focusing on Dracula's origin and the rise of the Belmont clan, was submitted for review and promptly shelved according to Bloody Disgusting.

Despite Anderson's track record of making beloved franchises like Resident Evil into subpar b-movies, the real problem seems to be with the proposed director of Castlevania, Sylvain White.  You may remember White's work on "Stomp the Yard" and "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer."  And then again you may not.

Regardless, White has officially left the project and Anderson's script has been indefinitely shelved.  Say what you will, but I'll sleep much better tonight knowing this.
