GDC 09- BIG Nintendo News!

Well GDC '09 did not disappoint in the way of news. Iwata spoke to the crowd, and spilled the beans of some great upcoming (aka RIGHT NOW) Wii and DS features.

Most importantly to some of you, is the Wii System Menu update 4, which now fixes that storage solution completely. The update allows players to save content to their SD cards, and play games right off them. The update also increases the Wii SD capacity size to 32GB. WOO HOO!!! (This update is available right now!!!!)

Also, Iwata announced a sequel to the DS mega hit Phantom Hourglass, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. This time, Link continues his journey to the train tracks.

And last but not least, the announcement of Virtual Console Arcade. This new section will be updated with arcade titles from childhood merryment. So far, this is the release schedule:
  • Gaplus (Namco Bandai): 600 Wii Points -- available now
  • Mappy (Namco Bandai): 500 Wii Points -- available now
  • The Tower Of Druaga (Namco Bandai): 500 Wii Points -- available now
  • Starforce (Tecmo): 500 Wii Points -- available now
  • Space Harrier (Sega) -- coming soon
  • Solvalou (Namco Bandai) -- coming soon
So far GDC has surely delivered!
