Aside from my undoubtedly ill-advised and unquestionably baseless anticipation for the new Highlander game, there are few titles I'm more excited about this year than The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf. It's a revamped version of the critically acclaimed PC RPG from last year tailor-fit to the strengths of console gaming. That means a streamlined menu, a new graphics engine, and a more intense combat system.
Despite the fact that the PC version of The Witcher has been out for a while, I haven't played it due to the fact that my PC can barely run the original Pitfall without exploding under the stress. But I'm sold on the game mostly because of the world. Oblivion is my only outlet for darkish fantasy gaming these days, and Fallout 3 has exposed the flaws in that game's combat system. The Witcher looks like a grittier version of Fable II, which sounds just about right.
Also, I likes me some albino protagonists. I'm just goofy that way.
