Hardware and software sales rise again!
The NPD has officially declared an upswing of 13% profit for January 2009 over January 2008 for the U.S. game industry.
The software and hardware sales for the U.S. market hit $1.33 billion in revenue for January '09, over the $1.18 billion in January '08. Hardware alone grew 17%, while software sales grew 10%. Gaming accessories were also up 11%.
Like a broken record, recession-proof Nintendo has been a strong force in overall hardware and software sales. In fact, hardware sales for the Wii last month were about the same as the Xbox360, PS3 and PSP combined!
Specifically, Wii sales increased 148% from Jan. of last year to Jan. of this year. The DS grew 99%.
Just crazy!
