ESPN and Nintendo hit a home run

Nintendo announced today that during this year's baseball season, Seattle Mariners fans will be able to use the Nintendo DS handheld in a whole new way. Nintendo and ESPN are teaming up to offer gamers a chance to be a part of the Nintendo Fan Network, which features up to the minute ESPN news and a close captioned stream of the PA announcements.

This may sound a bit familiar, as in 2007 Nintendo first debuted the service which was then limited to chatting with fans and accessing information.

New features also arriving this season, include live video broadcasts, interactive trivia, games, real-time scores of all baseball games, fantasy sports information and baseball columns written by the fine ESPN staff.

"Whether you're watching live video, ordering food from your seat or checking scores, the Nintendo Fan Network enhances the game-day experience for families and baseball enthusaists alike," said everyone's favorite virtual skier, Cammie Dunaway.
