Rock Band Unplugged

It happens to the best of us. You're sitting at your cousin's wedding and Boston's
"Foreplay/Long Time" comes on during the reception. Don't freak out, you think to yourself. But it happens nonetheless...

First the dots start coming at you. Next a vacant grin hits your face. Before you know it your hands (grabbing their invisible guitar) start tapping buttons and strumming in time.

There's no denying the separation anxiety of being away from Rock Band for any extended period of time, but what's a fake musician rock star to do? Fear not oh tappers of the buttons, as Sony has heard your cries and is releasing Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP.

In EA's most recent press release, a ton of info was spilled about their portable rock fest. "Rock Band Unplugged reinvents band gameplay while staying true to the authentic feel of the Rock Band console games,” said Bob Picunko, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games for MTV Games. “Harmonix delivers innovation with every game they develop and we are excited to continue our long-list of industry firsts with the Rock Band in-game wireless music store on the PSP system.”

The press release went on to use priceless quotes such as, "Your hands are the peripherals." Cheesy corporate banter aside, players will have button mapped versions of lead/rhythm guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Rock Band Unplugged will also feature the PSP's first full fledged in-game store.

You can look forward to 40 master tracks, 9 exclusive songs, and downloadable content on June 9, 2009. And in case you're curious about those 9 PSP exclusives:

• 3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite"
• AFI - "Miss Murder"
• Alice in Chains - "Would?"
• Audioslave - "Gasoline"
• Black Tide - "Show Me the Way"
• Blink 182 - "What's My Age Again"
• Freezepop - "Less Talk More Rokk"
• Jackson 5 - "ABC"
• Tenacious D - "Rock Your Socks"
