A Look Into MLB 09 The Show's AI

If there's one franchise that truly dominates its competition, it's Sony's MLB The Show games. And MLB 09 The Show looks to keep that tradition intact by bringing even more realism to video game baseball.

While graphics and gameplay continue to evolve in sports games, the real challenge comes from solid AI. To give gamers the ultimate thrill of competition, Sony is going to great lengths to make the MLB 09's AI the most realistic yet. The following video explains:

MLB 09 The Show hits shelves March 3rd for the PS3, PSP, and PS2. It's the one with Dustin Pedroia on the cover. Why Pedroia you ask? Well as Sony put it:

"In his first year in the big leagues, Pedroia was named 2007 American League Rookie of the Year. Pedroia hit safely in 14 straight games, the longest batting streak for an AL rookie in 2007. Additionally he led all MLB rookies with a .317 batting average, a record for a rookie second baseman. Pedroia also has the fifth most playoff hits ever for a rookie and handled 53 chances without an error at second base, helping the Red Sox win their seventh World Series Title. This past season, Pedroia was the first second baseman in nearly half a century to be named the AL MVP by hitting .326 with 17 home runs, 83 runs batted in, and 118 runs scored. He is the 10th player in the history of the Red Sox to capture the AL MVP and the 8th player in AL history to win the MVP, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger awards in the same season."

I'd say the man's earned it.
