360 Supreme

The sales figures are in, and it looks like the Xbox 360 trounced the Playstation 3 this holiday season. Microsoft's beige box outsold its Japanese competitor in the U.S. by a two to one margin last December.

1.44 million 360s left their retail nests to inevitably fail in their new homes, up from 1.26 million in 2007. Meanwhile, sales of the PS3 were actually down from the previous year, 798,000 to 726,000.

Of course, sales figures have little to no bearing on the quality of a system. Chances are, the 360 price cuts had more to do with consumer preference than any burning hatred of the PS3. Especially in this near-Mad Max economy, it's hard to justify forking over a gazillion bucks to Sony when you can get a machine from Bill Gates for, like, a dollar. (Prices roughly estimated.)

Of course, Nintendo beat them all in their diabolical quest to ship one Wii for every finger and toe on Earth. And we're not just talking humans here!
