New Screens for Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of those games that may fall victim to its own hype. Touted as Resident Evil 4 meets BioShock meets that surprisingly well done Chronicles of Riddick fiasco on Xbox, Asylum has a lot of things to live up to. And as a long time Bats fan, I'd love to see all of these aspirations come to fruition.

Rocksteady Studios (long since separated from partner Bebop) wants to deliver a "dark" take on the bat-verse that emphasizes Master Wayne's detective AND fighting skills. The game takes place in Arkham Asylum where all of the inmates have been set loose and it's up to Batman to do his thing. Basically it's Manhunt 2 with Batman, except Batman doesn't kill people with screwdrivers... so there's that.

Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill

All that said, Eurogamer has gotten hold of some new Asylum screenshots that look pretty darn good. Any game that's a solid combination of RE4 and BioShock would be on my "games to play" list. Throw in Batman and it's that much of a sure thing.

Here's to hoping.
