Baltimore Mayor Indicted; Likes Playstation

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon has just been indicted on 12 counts, some of which include four counts of perjury, misconduct in office and two counts of theft.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Dixon used over $3,400 in gift cards that were meant for needy children, on herself and staff members. Dixon used Target, Circuit City and Best Buy gift cards to purchase a variety of consumer electronics, including a Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and a PSP, amongst other things.

Although Dixon's future as mayor is unclear, she has pleaded her innocence with the citizens of Baltimore. "I am being unfairly accused," Dixon stated at a press conference yesterday. "Time will prove that I have done nothing wrong..." Police found 5 of the gift cards in Dixon's home when they raided it in June.

Yeesh! Being a Baltimorean myself this is all pretty sad. Not only is it sad that she (allegedly) stole gift cards from needy children, but she didn't even spring for a Wii or a DS. Bad choice Dixon, bad choice.
