Eat Lead Character Peeks

There are many reasons I'm looking forward to Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. Not least of which is my affinity for self-referential meta-humor, which Eat Lead seems entirely built upon. In the world of the game, Matt Hazard is a world-famous 8-bit video game character who is being revamped and 'roided up as a current-gen action/shooter star. As such, you'll control Hazard through levels that mock various gaming cliches from the past several years. Kind of like Roger Rabbit, but with video games.

Oh, and Matt Hazard is voices by Will Arnett, who played Gob on Arrested Development, one of the most self-referential and meta TV shows of all time. And one of the funniest.

D3 Publisher just released a few pieces of character art from the game, and they give us a pretty good glimpse at the kind of humor Eat Lead is going for.

As you can see, we have a half-shirted, one-winged, giant-sworded JRPG staple, a mean-looking manual laborer who looks like he'd kill for a warp pipe, and a Nazi soldier from Castle Wafferthinn. Nice.
