Tarantula > Xbox 360

In this economy, you're probably wise to keep your game consoles hidden to anyone peeking through your window. They're easy to steal and even easier to sell, and they can fetch a pretty penny in the right places. (By "right places", I obviously don't mean GameStop, which will take your used console and massive game collection for three dollars of store credit and a maniacal slap to the jaw.) But now we know that you should be even more protective of your deadly spiders.

A British 15-year-old named Liam Douglas recently fell victim to a burgling. But instead of taking his Xbox 360 or any of the hundreds of games his Mom says were just lying around, the thieves made off with Fangs, the kid's pet tarantula. Sure, Fangs is worth about $550, but how do you fence a live spider?

Liam, of course, is pretty upset about Fangs' abduction. But at least he can console himself with his hundreds of games. And yes, I used "console" as a pun. Deal with it.
