Miyamoto Receives Honorable Henson Award

The annual Jim Henson Honors announced four recipients today, one of which is Nintendo's General Manager Shigeru Miyamoto. Miyamoto is the recipient of "The Jim Henson Celebration Honor" for his dedication to inspire and innovate. Each year, the Henson family chooses individuals, products or organizations that share the same values as Jim Henson himself.

"The recipients of this year's Jim Henson Honors demonstrate true creativity and commitment to innovation," Brian Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company said. "They have raised the bar in their respective fields," he continued, focusing on Shigeru Miyamoto's "ground-breaking work fusing entertaining and technology at Nintendo..."

Also given honors were The Center for Puppetry Arts Distance Learning Center, Shepard Fairey, an artist, and the video game Spore.
