Resident Evil 5 Multiplayer Fiasco

Fans of Capcom's zombie blasting Resident Evil franchise had to pick up their unattached (via shotgun) jaws from the floor when box art for Resident Evil 5 was revealed to have a listing for 2-16 player system linking.

The box art shocker was spotted by the fine folks at D+Pad. Since then Capcom has issued three updates to the magazine saying:

(Update 1)
Videogaming247 has gotten a response from Capcom who have confirmed that the “box art isn’t lying.”

(Update 2)
Capcom has now retracted their previous statement and said that it “Turns out our pack art was wrong!”.

(Update 3)
Capcom contacted D+Pad directly to confirm that the system link information on the box art is definitely an error and that the correct number of players supported via system link is in fact two.

This is far from the first time box art slip ups have happened. I remember picking up Lord of the Rings: The Third Age for Xbox, ecstatic that it had the custom soundtrack option highlighted on the back. Needless to say I have yet to kill a Balrog with "Welcome to the Jungle" playing in the background. Well, not counting all those wonderful dreams.
