Those braggarts over at Microsoft have announced that they've sold 28 million Xbox 360s to date, which is about 8 million more than the PS3 and well over the lifetime sales for the original Xbox. Of course, the 360 had a year's head start on the PS3, and both HD systems are being trounced by the wee little Wii, but this is still an accomplishment.
Or is it? Considering that something like half of all 360 owners have had to replace their faulty consoles at least once, does this mean that only half of these 28 million are still working? My first 360 died a lonely death outside its warranty window, so even though I didn't pay full price for a new console, I still paid something. Does that count as a separate sale?
Who's to say? Microsoft, I suppose. But they aren't telling. Probably because I haven't asked them. I guess I just don't want to bring them down, since they just look like little angels when they're happy.
